The Shy Sun

I am the sun, but a very shy child
and thus in the morn’ I peek through the sky
whilst the birds parade their chimes
and fly to their heights
and people awake revitalized
wanting to be liberated like butterflies
facing both snapdragons and daisies
Yet I deny my rise

During a storm when lightning strikes
I hide behind its violence
and dip into grey
as the rain cries
and dulls my sight
from vibrant to hazy

And when night arrives
I fade and fall behind the tide
and aft’ my crayons go crazy
with colors wild
I spec from gold to diminishing light
with an untried and uneventful sigh

But when the right place and time
I will smile the biggest bravest smile
and make even the shade’s domain mine
All my phases
from sunset to sunrise
will come to life
And the whole day
attentive to my likes

when less I be shy
and finally shine~
