Get Rid Of The Advertisements

It's Not Easy Being Green

This whole world over,
greedy man
does all he can
to get wealthy;
pays no attention
to what he destroys
or that the planet
is no longer healthy.

He sneers,
deriding the 'mad greenie',
who is, after all,
doing what's right.
The public can't see
past the need for more jobs
and the 'greenie' is damned
for his fight.

It's not just the forest,
not only the mines;
but the wild things,
destroyed in their wake,
more species destroyed
with each passing year.
Are you listening?
What does it take?

Sure, count me a 'greenie',
for I take my stand;
what gives man the right
to destroy?
Some animals now
are found only in zoos;
is freedom just man's
to enjoy?
