That's Life

SultryRose's Signatures

This city street is cold tonight
And my tired bones are old
The tiny meal I had today
Ain't much against this cold

I know that you don't know me
So I can't expect you'll see
That I was once a vital man
A soldier strong and free

Yes, once I served my country well
In a war that all called bad
I gave my leg, my wife , my home
Yes, everything I had

For years I tried to kill the pain
With liquor don't you know
But those old crazy nightmares
Just would n't let me go

Those voices in my head don't help
Cause they keep folks away
Yes, they all think I'm crazy
For what the the voices say

So now I'm down to my last shiirt
Got a nickel to my name
But my life here in the gutter
It goes on just the same

Yes life is filled with many things
Until you fall from grace
It's then you find you're just like me
A man without a face.

So when you pass , don't pity me
There's nothing you can do
Just say a prayer, and try to see
I was once a man like you

Yes just walk on, don't shed a tear
I've lived, I had my day
I have known happy.. health and home
Till war got in the way
