Wonder

Wonder

Within the heat of summer

Lie moments caught in breathless
Wonder, a silence at twilight, taste
Of chilled watermelon, scent of fresh
Thyme and basil, touch of random wind

And time keeps these tucked away, safe
From dull and stale, until we reminisce,
Remembering how good summer could be
