Soul Cry

Soul Cry

Sweet wind, do you not hear
Me quietly calling to you
From within the fading blue
Of an indifferent sky?

Can you not feel the longing
To escape my tethered being
In this world so unseeing
Of my worth, my destiny?

Listen to my plea, my song
Of hope, my need to soar...
Believing in now, nevermore
To hide when changes come.

Speak to me of soft comfort,
Amid your tempests let me fly
Clinging to my faith and I
Will ask no more than this....

If your sweetest whispers I could hear
Drifting across a changing sky,
Echoing my bittersweet longing,
I would promise our shared destiny.
Merciful wind of words and song,
Let me feel your touch as you come
To me offering freedom's comfort
That I may fly, clinging to naught but this.
