The Shadow Fades To Dust

A quiet starlit night
Walking in peaceful solitude
Listening to my hearts memories

Feeling the gentle breeze
Blowing ever so lightly on my face
The crickets calling out in the night

The evening bringing a break to the heat
As the summer sun takes it's rest
Only thoughts of calm being allowed

There was a time of fear and dread
Found among the dark of night
As a teen my fears would be made aware

I pushed aside my tears
I slayed all the dark demons
They once were among all the shadows

My heart is free now
Every breath I take soars with peace of mind
I will not let that feeling overwhelm me

Occasionally I think I see a glimpse
It is there hiding in the shadows
Hoping to smell the fear it once caused

I will no longer linger in fear
Time has taught me to be stronger
So quickly the shadow will fade into dust

I shall enjoy my midsummer nights journey
Making my heart sing louder
Knowing the shadow now fears me
