Heartache Beach
I think of then and I think of you
And the words I could never say to you,
Of the evening I sat down by the sand,
On top of a rock, with my head in my hand.
The sun set on a horizon, blue
As my heart when I think of you,
And seagulls voiced the choking cry
I would have uttered if you were nearby.
The ocean looked so sweet that night,
The roll and roll of the comforting tide
That held me intent as it sang me to sleep,
In a hypnotic trance, I stared into the deep.
And it was then that I realised
You are the pull of my very own tide,
And I fell deeper, alone, into the sea
I was convinced was made for you and me,
And I dreamt of swimming forever with you
In a carefree mass of gentle blue,
But as the waves licked at my legs
I remembered you are hers instead.
