Between The Cracks

Photobucket

The cement has turned to dirt along this road
Your soul seems to be carrying a heavy load
Your chips are down and now your going broke
Laying it on line with a lump in your throat

Hidden between the cracks of this asphalt
Down the road of lonely exhaustion's assault
Are the weeds of forgotten hopes and dreams
Still nourished by broken hearts beating seed

The roses are still red, the violets are still
Blue petals reaching towards the sun with will
Fragile and weak they continue to reach above
Searching warmth within the flight of a dove

Petals of time etched upon the silent breeze
Perfume of devotion peeking through the gleam
Shimmers of determination, flowers of strength
Surrounded with greenery in this desolate place

Leaves of flesh fed by veins of acceptance
Hidden throughout these stalks of silence
Caught in the cracks of natures perseverance
Is the pure determination of roots patience
