Lord have mercy...

From six years after birth,
through my life I was taught.
Celebrate life on earth,
in vengeance don't get caught.

Last year I wed a girl,
the apple of my eye.
Round her finger, me she'd curl,
for her I'd gladly die.

The future we had planned,
having family and stuff.
Our house was small, not grand,
but for us it was enough.

Yes, the roses are still red,
the violets are still blue.
But my loving wife is dead,
and the baby that was due.

I hunted down the one,
who took their lives away.
As I took aim with my gun,
his begging held no sway.

Entitlement not mine,
to take another's life.
It's yours my Lord divine,
but he killed my babe and wife.

The law I will not face,
then be incarcerated.
I am heading for a place,
that like me is ill-fated.

To Africa I sail,
where I will help the weak.
On you I would prevail,
to help with what I seek.

I know that I've done wrong,
I cannot put that right.
Serving penance I belong,
please understand my plight.

My life will now be used,
to do all that I can.
No task will be refused,
to assist my fellow man.
