The Pirate and The Parrot
A man with an evil eye hastens after riches,
And does not consider that poverty will come upon him.
Proverbs 28:22

With a patch on 'is eye and a brew on 'is lips,
He gave a sly wink at the parrot that tripped
over the chest that was filled to the brim,
with sparkles of silvers and slivers of gems...
'Aye my sweet Polly'.... he slurred his words now...
'T'was a languishing hunt for this treasure I found.'

'Through caves and deep waters I got me my wish,
I can sail any sea and forget about fish,
He demanded that Polly must now celebrate,
'Life handed me riches ... and 'Here's to me fate' '
But this journey had ended before it began
This inebriate thief now appeared to be damned...
He'd canvas the waters where ever he pleased...
With imposing great treasure's like these.

And off he did sail and with only one guest,
For the swing of her scythe, he dubbed Polly ... 'The Pest!'
Incessant squawking at his drunken state,
But he'd brought her along ... now doomed to this fate...
To live on the sea and do nothing of worth,
But to cheer out a toast with a counterfeit mirth,
This bibulous thief... a recluse condemned...
Clutching sparkles of silvers and slivers of gems...

Give me neither poverty nor riches—
Feed me with the food allotted to me;
Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, “Who is the LORD?”
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:7-9
