ONE LAST SONG

She wandered in the mist it seemed
I watched knowing it was no dream
She stumbled as she walked and I
Thought ..where's she going now and why

A woman who never left her home
What had made her now just roam
Was she sleep-walking in the night
Did she not see twas little light

Photobucket

I saw her stumble, caught my breath
Should I wake her - scare her to death
She wobbled on as if she knew
Exactly what she intended to do

There was a bench side of the street
I watched her sit ..as to rest her feet
Still not aware that I was near
Twas not herself that was quite clear

Photobucket

I knew she had been sick a while
Always tried to give her a smile
But seldom did I see her out
For she was sick..without a doubt

Perhaps she wanted a change of pace
Not to run some unknown race...
Just to breathe the air outside
In the darkness..save her pride

Photobucket

She never asked a soul you see
To help her..no, not even me
She took her life somehow in stride
Just put her cares and wants aside

I watched her rise and head back home
I followed so she'd not be alone...
I felt the tears filling my eyes
It was so sad I realized

Photobucket

I wanted to let her know I was there
But something told me she wouldn't care
Changes in her life before my eyes
Saw her glance up to the skies

Walked her steps; opened the door
Now she was gone as was before
A woman who once had everything
Shows what changes life can bring

perhaps her one last song ......
