Gone

He always was my hero
He of the square jaw and smiling brown eyes
When he walked into my room
With his firm yet quiet step
The whole world seemed less tired
And life’s music just a tiny bit sweeter
When that smile crinkled up the sides of his eyes
He lit up my room
As with his gentle touch he made my day
He really was the wind beneath my wings
My primary reason for living
No day ever seemed to long or night to short
I had but to call and he was there
Always knowing the right thing to do
To get me through each bad time
Forever reminding me that I was still God's child
That I had a right to be here
That he would never let me fall
There was nothing I ever desired
That he would not give
No stone unturned to make me happy
I was his greatest weakness
He was my prince in shining armor
I was momma , he was loving son
We completed each other
Now he is gone, I still cry
I am still bereft, my world is always cold
While outside the grass still grows green
The roses are still red, the violets are still blue
Yes, time still marches on as it should
I guess
The world didn’t stop for my broken heart.
