Those Memories

The long and winding road
that leads to your door
will never disappear

I've seen that road before.
It always leads me here,
leads me to your door.

Paul McCartney

There's a place up in the mountains,
near the forest where we rode,
where many times we wandered down
the long and winding road .

Open the boundary gates up,
carry the wounded heart, sore.
I'm on the path I've chosen
that leads to your door.

I approach and see you waiting,
your smile so sweet and dear.
In my heart I know that precious smile
will never disappear.

Just day-dreaming over memories,
for the pain is still so raw.
I saw the vision splendid, but...
I've seen that road before.

Perhaps I'll close the album,
wipe away the fresh-shed tear.
I don't know why I keep doing it...
it always leads me here.

The memories are precious
but I can take no more.
You are gone and there is nothing
that can
lead me to your door.
