Denial

Alone in deep seclusion
cradled by the night
with August moon
its shadows...
stealing hearts delight

remembering...
reflecting...
much against
own will
the love I gave
your promise...
both of us fulfilled??

staggered thoughts
raise havoc
strangle...
with firm grip
pretense, games
betrayal...
disguised in
passions kiss

loved you like no other
hopes 'n dreams
unfurled...
all I ever wanted
was to have that love...
returned

tonight I'm hugging
memories
as tears fall
familiar on my face
searching lone star
for answers...
while denial
suffocates

can't move into 'morrows
while stuck in yesterday
hoping for a rainbow
to chase these blues away

yet...
choking on reality
of scorned and broken heart
sobbing echoes...
breathes in pain
'neath midnight veil of black
