Sew Me In

4.17.07

The space that I take up
is empty.
You could cut me out
of this picture
and stitch me into some other
and I would fit.
I've been cut and pasted
I've been sewn in, shown how,
I've been shut up.

My five foot frame
is all that's left
The rest of me is twiddling my thumbs
and watching to see what I'll do next
You could cut me out
of this picture
and stitch me into some other
and I'd fit there too.
I'm sewn in,
I've been copied and pasted
Shut in, cut out,
salty tongues wasted.

This space I'm using is a void
it doesn't hold me back, it
holds me in, it
keeps me.
We're picking scabs
I'm amazed by the blood
tears must fall, fear ensues resolve
Cut me out and paste me in
sew me up by stitching skin
stick me here on the bed
don't move me while you take cover
in the covers
It's just what I've shed
I'm just a clipping, position me

Rip me out of the picture
the space is filled up and wasted
Sewn in, Thread holds me to you and to
the art of scraping scabs
Glue me to wherever you are
in your face
Cut me out,
copy paste, copy paste
Tomorrow to waste
and I fit, I fit there too
