Saluting You, Soldier!

Perhaps they served on home soil
or foreign lands afar
leaving friends and loved ones
while marching off to war
Even during peace time
with many jobs to do
believe in peace and freedom
to Country heart is true
Side by side in combat
shed bloody sweat and tears
paving our safe haven
on land, in air, by sea
Strong brotherhood
connection
priceless is their bond
n'er to run, abandon
will sacrifice
for cause
Korea and the World Wars
or maybe Vietnam
Persian Gulf with Sudam
Iraq, Afghanistan
America the beautiful
stands for liberty
dedicated Soldiers
commit to keep us free
Heart swells
with pride and honor
for warriors, the brave
with love,
respect for service
my flag,
Old Glory waves
I pay tribute to our Veterans
all answered duties call
in the name of freedom
some gave some, some all

Recognition was given to the ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m. November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). The day became known as 'Armistice Day.'
Armistice Day officially received its name in America in 1926 through a Congressional resolution. It became a national holiday 12 years later by similar Congressional action.
In 1954 President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11th as Veterans Day, a day to honor those who have served America in all wars.
I proudy salute our Vets past, present and future and offer my heartfelt thanks for their part in making the United States of America the land of the free...
