Sleigh Ride Serenade

'Neath smiling moon
'n falling snow
we venture out
to parts unknown

side by side
on wooden sleigh
December
whispers serenade

mounds of white
blanket path
crystal snowflakes
cover laps

evergreens
with arms outstretched
inviting cardinals
to their breast

we ride along
our hearts content
drunk on love
'n merriment

rhythmic sounds
click, click, clack
pheasants waltz
within fresh tracks

echoed laughter
hugs the land
sneaking kisses
hand in hand

twinkling stars
to light our way
tapestries
for eyes displayed

on a sleigh-ride
you and me
side by side
with spirits free
