The Dawning

The faintest of light seems to appear
In the eastern sky though dim through tears;
Has morning come, is it for real?
Or just an illusion, hope to steal?

The night has been dark, fears surround,
Disasters lurking, grave danger abound;
Unseen foes and a terrified heart,
And darkness everywhere, dark, dark, dark.

Now the dawn grows brighter, yet darkness clings,
The glimmer of dawn has hope on its wings;
It must be for real, I can hear a song;
A bird is singing, he can feel the dawn.

Little by little the mists fade away,
The chill of night cannot stay;
A light in the east, the sky is azure,
The horrors retreat, they cannot endure.

The sun pulls the covers from his sleepy eyes,
Light spills over land and sky;
A wonderful peace sings a new song,
The night is over and a new day dawns.
