Christmas Through His Eyes

Did I do something wrong?
Why do mom and dad stop talking when I come in the room?
Look at all the advertisements with toys,
I want that, and that, and I want one of those too,
Mommy, can I help daddy?
Look at all those lights in the box,
I can pull them out, but, they are all tangled up,
Hey look, that’s my name on this big red sock,
I want to help you put lights on the house,
Look daddy, wow, you are so high,
I can come up the ladder and help,
OK, OK, I’ll get down right now, Why?
I won’t fall and get hurt,
Are you going to?
I’m big enough to get on the roof,
OK, OK, well, what can I do?
When are we going to put up our tree?
Can we get out the ornmadents?
Are these the ones we had last time?
I can’t say: “ormnamints,
Wow, mommy, look at all the lights,
I helped put them on the tree,
Daddy says I need to learn how to do it,
And some day he will leave it all up to me,
I can’t wait till Christmas comes,
I can’t wait for it to snow,
I can’t wait to get some presents,
Daddy, how does Santa know?
Why can’t we stay up to say hi to Santa?
Is that true, if I’m awake he won’t leave me any presents?
Does he really only come if I am good?
Something about this doesn’t make sense!
