Are They Forgotten Men?

Do they walk the streets in your hometown
These men with vacant eyes
Can you sense the hidden sorrow
Each time they pass you by?

Do they scare you when they mutter things
Are they strange dirty rotten souls
Do you think some one should lock them up
Keep them under strict control?

Perhaps some of them are deaf or lame
With eyes that cannot see
For they’re living deep inside their heads
Replaying history

Do they make you cringe and turn away
When you’re standing next to them
Do you catalog them in a list
Of the should be forgotten men?

Well my friend you better think again
All may not be as it seems
Perhaps they fought in our nations wars
Those men who once had dreams

War took their heart destroyed their minds
As they watched some buddies die
Just lay there and bleed out their life
Under some war torn sky

Somehow it made them feel ashamed
That they lived to come back home
To replay that horror in their mind
As they walk some street alone

So my friend think twice as you turn your head
Be sure the facts you know
Then to visualize these words I write
Please watch this video

It might help to have a tissue near
In case tears fall from your eyes
For you have to have a hardened heart
To watch it and not cry
