most excellent
the dawn emerges from night
daring to believe
as it blossoms to light the day once more
its metaphors
minds will receive,
perchance emulating the sun
shining warmth to bless
with fervor as does the eye of day
show similar kindnesses.
unbidden yet faithful too,
owning no reward,
rain waters the garden of life and hopes
our hearts allow love
to be poured
as freely as heavens do,
sharing wide and broad;
the gifts they bear not theirs to own
but passed along from god.
creation awaits the days,
daring to believe
love it displays will waken us from sleep.
that we'll claim our reprieve
letting go of suffering's cause
the greed which has us cursed
to surrender to higher laws
but none
more excellent than the first.
