I Couldn't Say I Loved You

I couldn't say I loved you
My journey was to be what seemed forever
and time is a quiver of poisoned arrows drawn to patience
( I wish then we had such arrows)
so we could duel and die at closer distance
but destiny separated us more than ten paces
and still we closed our eyes relaxing our fingers
raining death accurate with great consequence
I'm sorry you hit my chest for my heart is in my intestines
though you died seconds after I exhaled
I'll cherish your honesty
your aim was righteous and deliberate
for that I'm grateful.
