Where I Lay
No sparkle left within these eyes
Wretched!
I am but a glimpse of what was in a moment
An ember left from a burning flame
A shadow dancing upon his wall
A senseless fool to his world of hauntings
Gazing upon the moon that hangs lazy in my night
Waiting in my sorrow
Oh! Shall I wilt and die upon this bed of thorns?
Where I lay wasting away for another time
Another place
Lies captured me
Tortured!
Tormented!
Yes, the pleasure was in vain
His gain, Oh, but he loved me so!
Or did he?
In this shallow place I pray
Aloud, I shout to the heavens to be free
Free!
For I am but a prisoner to his time
Grasping for sanity
I choke on my words
As slowly they reveal what I have known all the while
The truth behind his darkened stare
Darkness!
False promises, I dared to believe in love from empty eyes
If I awake in the morrow, I pray the sun will shine a brighter light unto my soul and free me from his grasp
Until then, my eyes will try to rest in this hollow shell
