When God's hand has brushed the skyline
With purple gold and red
When each tiny little blossom
Droops down its little head
Then the silence falls around me
Just shutting out the day
Then the cares that have beset me
Fold their tents and steal away
At the hour of the twilight
When the wind is in the east
I look and count the clouds above
And give my heart a feast
For this hour when day is ending
Is the time when I love best
For I know that God will bless us
With another night of rest
I hear birdies as they whisper
Just a sliver of a sound
And I watch an errant leaf float by
On its journey to the ground
I can look and see that river
Slowly slip down to the sea
Where there's nothing to disturb me
I'm alone , just God and me
It is then my heart keeps turning
To the place I love the best
For it's filled with love and laughter
Quiet talk and peaceful rest
And it's right there with my loved ones
This old heart will take its ease
But right now I'll watch this sunset
Just a little longer... please.!
