Get Rid Of The Advertisements

One For My Mother And One For The World

I.

Why were you here?
Why did you have me?
Why did you try so hard
And sacrifice your own happiness?

I think of you
When times are hard
You always would lend a helping hand
Your heart was in the right place
Though, sometimes,
I did not understand

It's a hard world to survive in
It's a tough one, yes it's true
But it always gives me comfort
When I think of you

You brought music into my life
Made me feel happy about it
Watching you dancing was magical
I had no reason to doubt it

When a funky beat now moves me
It saves me from feeling blue
When it's hard to cope
In this troubling world
Sometimes I just think of you
I try to remember you

You can carry me through
It's true...
And I miss you

Refrain:

They told me just be patient
And my dreams would eventually come true.
Well, I've been patient all my life
And now I'm an old man
And it's pretty hard to do

You echo in the horrors
The trumpet soars
In high fidelity memories
The masses applauded their support
In a roar
But I will not applaud for war
No I will not applaud for war

They kept on applauding
Give me more, give me more
But I will not applaud for war
No I will not applaud for war

II.

So why are you here?
Are you here to make things better,
For you and those around you,
For our country and for our children,
Or are you here just to complain?

Do you want to just complain
About who is doing what
or who is not doing what?
Do you want to complain
About what is happening,
What isn't happening,
What should or should not be happening?

That takes up so much energy and time;
Time that can be put to so much more productive use.
Get out there and help.
Do something constructive.
Help someone clean up their life,
Or their home.
Or maybe, clean up your own back yard.

There is so much that needs to be done.
Why are you here?
To do it. To try. To help things get better,
Even if only just a little.
It will be noticed.
It always is.
And maybe it will start a ripple of goodness
And help...
Wow, who knows where that could lead.

Refrain:

They told me just be patient
And my dreams would eventually come true.
Well, I've been patient all my life
And now I'm an old man
And it's pretty hard to do

You echo in the horrors
The trumpet soars
In high fidelity memories
The masses applauded their support
In a roar
But I will not applaud for war
No I will not applaud for war

They kept on applauding
Give me more, give me more
But I will not applaud for war
No I will not applaud for war
