Forever Butterfly

There was a girl
Who longed to fly
Free of all worry
Like the butterfly
Often the burdens
Filled her mind
Until a sunny smile
She could not find
Lost in the clouds
Dark with despair
Not a flicker of light
Danced in the air
How could she smile
Without reason why
Or believe in someday
Wishes cast to the sky
Hope almost lost
Tear fell upon page
Dread melted into
Dream upon the page
Smile played on lips
Belief poured from pen
Dreams coming to life
Over and over again
At last she knew
Purpose hers all along
To sing of life and love
In her poetic songs
When her wings
Feel unable to fly
She writes until light
Flutters cross the sky
Hope forever present
On her dreams she flies
On wings of inspiration
She’s forever a butterfly
