Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Decisions, decisions...

(at the scene)

'Let me examine that,'
the Chief Inspector said.
'The injured fell down flat,
bleeding from the head.'

*

(a short while before...)

Stiletto heels clicked loud,
as she strode along.
Somewhere inside her head,
she thought about a song...

Along the dim-lit street,
she opened up her pace.
Not a thought she'd meet,
the man without a face...

Attacks had happened often,
in different parts of state.
The local gals were scoffin'
'we don't stay out late...'

Sandy stopped to listen,
thinking, 'what was that?'
She saw the left eye glisten,
not covered by the hat.

The man had stepped behind,
this lady on her own.
He hoped quite soon he'd find,
a spot she could be thrown...

She speeded up the pace,
and turned a corner quick.
She'd seen his crazy face,
that really did the trick.

Defensive act she'd need,
she made a rapid plan.
She'd have to act at speed,
on came the running man...

Because of his intent,
he moved a bit too fast.
When round the corner went,
the dye for him was cast.

He turned the corner then,
thinking how he'd feel...
Train of thought changed when,
he saw the pointed heel...

His eyes went wide with fear,
unbelieving, still he looked.
An inch into his ear,
stiletto heel was hooked...

Sandy heard him scream,
as she ran away.
Already a bad dream,
she wasn't going to stay.

In stocking-feet she ran,
carrying her shoes.
She still heard the man,
wrong girl he thought to choose.

*

It took the cops a while,
looking 'round the street.
They found him in a pile,
'my ear...' they heard him bleat.

A rapid search produced,
a knife and piece of twine.
From this the cops deduced,
they'd finally caught the swine.

'It looks to me my friend,
this lady was your match.
For you this is the end,
a rapist she's helped catch...'

*

Laying in my bed,
thinking I was dreaming.
But clearly in my head,
the sound of someone screaming.

I saw all from my room,
with unbelieving eyes.
Right out there in the gloom,
a strange but nice surprise.

I climbed into my chair,
and wheeled it to the sill.
All I could do was stare,
so glad he didn't kill.

Perhaps I couldn't walk,
but I could do my bit.
The Lord still lets me talk,
my mind is still quite fit.

Upstairs and all alone,
I knew just what to do.
I grabbed the telephone,
and asked for men in blue...

The end
