Outside my mother's hospital room
I met with her doctor and inquired
With hope for the best in my heart
He used a word I had never heard

I came to learn this is an evil word
No one ever wants to hear it said
When using it about a loved one
It means their cancer has spread

I didn't know which way to turn
I felt like screaming out loud
This wasn't even close to fair
She's fought so very hard
Damn metastasized!!!

Coming to terms with this
It was not an easy thing to do
But Mama had enough courage
So very weak but yet so strong
She fantasized ...

What would her new life be like
Free from her pain and misery
She looked forward to the day
When she could be with God
Well, it materialized!!!

All though she is gone now
Her loving spirit within me lies
Such dramas we have to endure
As for the reasons, He'll make clear
Crystal clear ... crystallized!!!
