What Moves Me

Having witnessed so much in my years
Sometimes I wonder if anything affects me
I feel as though I have no feelings at all
But then I'll see my granddaughter smile

That's enough to shake me into reality
I'm not as tough as I think I've come to be
When someone so small can light my life
I may have to re-think this question

What brings out the best or worst in me
I would have to say the sadness of others
My heart aches when unhappy tears fall
If it's within me, I will be your champion

It's not a good thing at all to hurt so bad
If this old lady can do anything to help
I'll spring into action to make things right
And I won't let go until I get it right

I've found these two canes I walk with
They have opened many a door for me
People seem to listen, maybe out of respect
If they don't, I'll just hit 'em in the head

I'll use whatever means to stop the madness
Anything to dry all the tears of sadness
So I guess this old gal's still got some feelings
I hurt deeply when others are in pain

When others hurt it brings out both in me
The best and the worst as far as I can see
Depending on which end of the stick you may be
All I want is to see people smile and be happy
