Step Lightly

Golden wheat dances in the fields,
Out along that country road.
The old farmhouse, a welcoming haven.
A lovely rustic abode.

A kettle on the range is bubbling.
Filled with country stew.
Nights are cool, days are hot.
Mama's delphinium's, azure-blue.

Silver moonbeams kiss your face,
And put a sparkle in your eyes.
The night is alive with the music
Of crickets and crackling fireflies.

Mama's partial to that patch of violets.
She protects them lovingly.
let the moonlight be your guide.
Step lightly but surely.

I'll meet you by the wishing well.
My wishes are all planned.
This is the night, the perfect night.
To slip that diamond on my hand.

Step lightly but surely
