How I Got My Name

Some people call me Froggie
Others call me mom
Some declare me worty one
So far no one said I'm dumb

Teddy calls me the evil one
When I tell her she must write
And the dragon calls me Ruby Red
He named me late one night

But for oh so many many years
I was simply Jolly Frog
Spinning stories for some children
While relaxing on a log

Yes, I spun for them wee stories
Their attention tried to keep
While their little baby siblings
Laid down and tried to sleep

I remember how it started
A TV show came on
Me and my daughter Donna
Were at home and all alone

The show was about a frog and prince
Some of it caught her eye
So to tickle me her momma
She thought that she would try

She played the part of ogre
And I the lowly frog
She tickled me and tickled me
While I rolled just like a dog

So she proclaimed me Jolly
And Jolly I would be
Until I came to Starlite
Then the rest is history

Starlite said you can't be Jolly
Cause we got one of them
We think you should take noble
Add the word good frog ... then blend

So that's it in a nutshell
Old Froggie I became
A obedient poet from the very start
Simply playing Starlite 's games
