Humble Reverence

A simple man fell down upon his knees
in humble reverence to God's holy Name.
To Him, he whispered softly, 'Dear Lord, please,
I come before you, clad in guilt and shame.
How can you love a sinner such as I?
My wicked greed destroyed a human soul.
This land on which I stand, please sanctify,
I'm sick with grief, dear Lord, please make me whole.
He heard, from just above, a still, small voice,
'Know peace, my son. Your sorrow and regret,
your words, your heart revealed, you had a choice.
Release your heart from bondage and forget.'

'My Lord, my Rock, Redeemer, Saviour, Friend,
Your Word forever willing, I'll defend.'
