Performance, Performance, Performance
It's pitiful when asked to think of performance
All you can come up with is the tires on your car
How well the tread wears, how they hug the road
Will they work no matter when and where you are
Don't ya know performance constitutes many things
It tells a lot about a person like the work ethic he has
A presentation by your daughter's fancy dance class
As they sprint on stage in their best ballet and jazz
Performance can measure a president's capabilities
How well an engine can keep a helicopter in the air
Your famous son, the cellist, played his best tonight
A critique of his performance will tell how he fared
A soldier's performance is crucial to his well-being
Just one wrong slip-up can devastate a whole squad
Generals knocking on parents doors in the morning
Falling down on their knees and then praying to God
It could even be an acknowledgment of your libido
One may say lots of good things of your performance
Or if by chance they dare to say anything negative
Perhaps there's something you may need to enhance
Performance is important in your child's schooling too
They always need to strive to be the best they can be
That way they can get offers from different colleges
And maybe one day earn that most desired degree
I bet the next time someone mentions performance
You'll think of more things than the tires on your car
You might even recall the day you read this poem
And for that, my friend, I will give you a gold star!
