DEAR SELF

DEAR SELF

Maybe it's time I had a serious talk with you
So many things together we have been through
Not all of your hopes and dreams have come true
But blessings you have known were not few

Humble beginnings, in material things you were poor
In having love of good honest parents you were grandeur
You knew loneliness being an only child without de rigueur
You even have experienced a few force majeure

Dear self,

You soon learned to pray and trust the living God
It didn't seem to you to be at all strange or odd
Your grandmother taught you and continued to prod
You came through altho at times it was roughshod

You always liked to write, considered from God a gift
When feeling sad, or disappointed it gave you a lift
Some times in the journey of life you've gone adrift
Your marriage partner took you away from a short shrift.

Dear self,

No regrets, no harsh unforgiven issues stand before you
Tried and tested the years of your life have really flew
Now a senior citizen retired from work and not askew
Yet about life some things you haven't a clue.
