Necessary Evil
Instinctively I think,
of many hours of pain.
It took me to the brink,
for results I would sustain.
I'd run on grass or sand,
on flat or up a slope.
Good training helped me stand,
the pain so I could cope.
Ten mile race took an hour,
half-marathon...some more.
Full marathon required power,
but pace was slightly slower.

On a very different note,
our mental stress counts too.
Life takes us by the throat,
we do what we must do.
A relative gets ill,
and caring is required.
For their pain relief we'd kill,
the worry makes us tired.
Unselfishly we go,
helping day by day.
Though they may not know,
by their side we'll stay.

Abuse is handed out,
in so many ways.
A child gets a clout,
but quiet it still stays.
A husband beats a wife,
feeling he has power.
She could take his life,
but no...she'll simply cower.
So much of it she'll take,
before the day she'll leave.
Their marriage...a mistake,
the love was make-believe...

Africa has seasons,
when lots of land is dry.
Nature has it's reasons,
why things should live or die.
Some life goes on fighting,
finding food and water.
When there is a sighting,
surviving cause it's gotta'.
No thought of easing pain,
just simply stay alive.
Wild life waits for rain,
it fights on to survive.

Examples...there were four,
and variety was used.
When life tests you to the core,
think clear...don't get confused.
