Rick

My pet says nothing to all of you...
he's a piece of petrified rock,
been lying in state now for twenty five years,
wrapped in a comfy old blue woollen sock.

Rick was a gift from my children
back when money was scarce but love not.
Now and then I give Rick a brief airing,
for the rock makes me smile...quite a lot.

It costs not a cent to maintain him
and he's never demanded a vet.
He will dig no big holes in the garden...
yes, my Rick's a most practical pet.
