Our Neighbor No Matter Color Our Brother

As I sit and stare at this huge dark black page

It seems to be screaming for me to set the stage

I'm either the dumbest or bravest white girl I know

And I'm guessing this courage must come with age

I just got back from a short trip to Georgia

Which is a southern state in the great U S of A

I couldn't believe that still in the small rural towns

'No blacks live here!', they would proudly say

All the white people are moving from Atlanta

To little rinky dink towns with names like Jasper

Running scared like wild rabbits from vile wolves

Giving up all they have ever worked hard for

Can it really be our people haven't come that far

How ignorant and superficial can some of us be

We should all recognize the pain of sacrifices made

For victory of equality meant to bless both you and me

Each race and nationality has a right to live their dreams

To exist side by side, we could learn so much from each other

Just think what a beautiful country this would certainly be

If we looked upon our neighbor, no matter color, as our brother

Black or white, red or yellow, we have a common thread

We are all human beings and supposedly born with a brain

If used wisely, we could benefit so well in this thing we call life

Don't be afraid to come out of this 'head in the sand' rain
