Life's Colors

I have a date
This afternoon
Time is rushing by
Too soon.
Before you faint
Or make a fuss,
My date is with life's paint
And a time worn paint brush.
I'll dab the azure
Brush the gold.
Soon, life's portrait
Will unfold.
Red's for laughter
Blue for pain
Silver for tears
That mimic rain.
Green for rebirth
A lovely thing
Reminiscent of early spring.
Strands of lavender
From lilac days.
Apricot and fuchsia
For sunny rays.
Deep purple
For later years
Somewhere, too,
The grey of fears.
Life's canvas nearly complete
I stand back to view
I'm glad to find the gold's
Outweigh the blue.

Color my world
