Is This The Beginning?
Laying on our double bed
just like two strangers
Passing in the hallway
like two ships in the night
Treating each other
with mere common courtesy
Is this the beginning?
Where has the love gone
where did it go
How can partners for life
grow so out of touch
Is this a smoke screen
thinking no one will see
Is this the beginning?
Telephones ringing
there's no one on the line
Late night meetings
held much more often
Bank accounts dwindling
on no account of mine
Is this the beginning?
Concerned minds
becoming so suspicious
Glares from a distance
at the grocery store
I don't know how much
how much more can I endure
Is this the beginning?
Funny how he even tried
to keep everything a secret
When he finally knew I knew
He flew like a phoenix from it's ashes
Why do people bother
playing foolish games like this
It's over now from beginning to end!
