The New Year

Wouldn't it be wonderful
If the new year brought peace on earth.
All wrapped up in a bright ribbon.
Think of it's worth.

And wouldn't it be oh so grand,
If everyone had shoes upon their feet.
No more sleeping in the cold,
And enough food to eat.

Wouldn't it be just the greatest,
If Jesus was allowed back in school
With every boy and girl.
If they could fold their hands and pray
Like in the days of old.
It would be a different world.

If children were not abused and murdered
At the hands of their loved ones.
If there were no more street gangs
Waving loaded guns.
If hate was replaced with love
And family values put in place,
The world would be much safer
With truth and honesty embraced.

What will the New Year bring,
More terror, more suffering?
