I am your conscience, I am your guide
I am your humbleness, I am your pride
Matters of the heart, I do pull the strings
Sometimes you get sad because it stings
Sometimes I'm playful, sometimes I'm not
And if I get mad, sometimes I get hot
I can make you laugh, I can make you cry
I can make you feel as though you could fly
I can confuse and turn you upside down
Or put a smile on your upside down frown
If you are frightened, I can make you brave
You can take me along even to your grave
Guardian of your feelings, right or wrong
I can make your day seem just like a song
Friend, without me, you'd be a lump of clay
Always at a loss for the right words to say
I can put ideas in your gray mattered brain
I can even make you come in from the rain
I can allow you to fail or cross that fine line
Yep, I can even open or close your mind
I can't make this any plainer for you to see
You'd never make it without little ole me
