The Best Gift Ever

Material things are wonderful,
Seems we can’t have enough,
We buy and keep and fill our homes,
Until we have to much stuff,

But stuff is all it is,
And what good does it do,
If you don’t have the love of your family,
At Christmas to comfort you,

I’d give up every earthly possession,
If I could have my children’s heart,
With them beside me now and forever,
But circumstances have pulled us apart,

And Grandkids I have also,
Though rarely do I see them,
I pray for the day, they come to me and say,
We want to be in your life again.

But for now, I keep on hoping,
And I have them on my list,
Of the things I want for Christmas,
This one blessing would be the best.
