Leftover Secrets

Leftover Secrets
sunset lies before me in painted
blues and gold and crimson,
leftover secrets of sky
and sun, of a day now done,
slipping away with barely
a whisper to mark its
passing... and once more I am
reminded of you and your
quiet brilliance, your vibrancy
softly hidden within timid smiles
and shy whispers, how you
tiptoed out of my life and how
I wish you could have stayed
longer... and I wonder
as the sun descends below
golden horizons if there will ever
come a time when your memory
does not drift silently across
each sunset, when I do not feel
you beside me in the hush
of twilight... or when
your whisper is no longer
heard in these leftover
secrets of sky and sun...
somehow I do not think so
