Fairy Tales Do Come True Sometimes
Once upon a time I lived in a small WV town
I hoped to meet a special prince some day
On a lovely Christmas Eve while volunteering
For a church restaurant, one came my way
This sailor chose me from all the other girls
He drank cup after cup of coffee while waiting
He walked me home and I was very excited
We wrote to each other and continued dating
Close to Valentine's day he gave me diamond ring
I wore it with pride, but he was pushing too hard
I imagined myself strolling his baby in a carriage
But something seemed wrong, reality was barred
I told him I needed more time, I had some things to do
He wrote me a 'dear Jane' letter saying we were through
I was very hurt and I cried and cried as my heart ached
Christmas, Valentines day and now Easter found me blue
Not long afterward there appeared yet another prince
He was with me through my dad's sickness and death
He gave me a diamond ring and pushed for wedding date
Maybe fairy tales come true, forever he's shared my every breath
