Within The Sounds Of Silence

There's a special kind of silence
In soft scented summer nights
It's the flutter of white moth wings
Caught up in the pale moonlight

It's the chirping sound of crickets
Calling out to find a date
It's the thrill of tree bound robins
Talking softly to a mate

It's the creaking of a porch swing
Swinging gently to and fro
And the tinkling kiss of wind chimes
Playing laughter sounds so low

It's the running sound of Bullit
My dog dreaming by my knee
It's the murmur of tiny raindrops
As they caress the grass and trees

That's the time when I go walking
When there's no one else around
Just the soft tap of my footsteps
As they fall against the ground

I stroll by that lazy river
As it tinkles on its way
Making music on the pebbles
It encounters on the way

There I feel that you are near me
I can almost hear you sigh
As my mind goes back to yesterday
I try so hard not to cry

For inside the sounds of silence
Communicating with my heart
I know that you are here with me
And that we will never part

So although the some folks may need me
This is where I want to be
Wrapped up in this golden silence
That the Good Lord's given me

So I'll tarry a little longer
Wrapped inside this navy haze
Just enjoying summer music
In this deep blue serenade
