Just a Few Words

Just A Few 'Words'

In the spirit of this challenge I thought I might
Share just a few words with you...
Perhaps throw a party.. invite some friends!

Of course, 'nouns' would show up...
(They think they are everyTHING
If you know what I mean)
Some of them are quite proper
And some not so...but that's another poem.
'Verbs' will come too but they'll be busy
Doing whatever it is 'verbs' do.
Arriving to make 'nouns' look good
Will be those trusty 'adjectives'
And 'adverbs' must come since they can't
Leave 'verbs' alone.

'Pronouns'!! What a group!
'I' loves to argue.. usually with 'you'
And 'we' will simply ignore 'them'.
'He' will really like 'her'
While 'she' will get into 'him'
'Me', 'us, 'they', and the rest will spend time
Simply trying to figure out whose side to take.
And poor 'it'....tough to go through life
Changing identities every second
Because someone needs 'it' to.

There will be 'prepositions'
And, of course, their objects...
(Can't leave home without them!)
And those darned 'conjunctions'
Will be trying to make connections.
Always arriving late will be 'participles'...
They do like to keep us hanging.

What would we do without words?!
Even when they become 'possessive'
Or believe themselves to be 'superlative',
We still embrace them, mold them, and share them...
But mostly we love them!

Welcome to the party!
