Get Rid Of The Advertisements

When we are broken

A shared glance and a fleeting smile
Imbeds in our memories for a while.
With shared laughter and the joy of mirth
The heart once more is giving birth.
An attraction looms and grows in size
But can we be sure this is not our demise?
It's a matter of time before cracks appear
And we become paralysed by our own fear.
When we believed love was long forgot
Our heart and soul again begins to knot.
We've both felt pain and are weary of trust
And neither soul would will give in to lust.
Our personal barricades keep us apart
For no greater risk than the game of hearts.
So alone we purge in silence our song
The hindrance of those who did us wrong.
Our shadowy pasts have made us weary
We can't take much more our souls too dreary.
That first love who caused so much pain
Has gone on through time to hinder us again.
Paranoid and suspicious no one makes a move
When each other's sorrow they could remove.
Thus they concede to a protective stale mate
And they accept this as their eternal fate.
When one at least lives in turmoil and strife
The torment of desire consuming their life.
They reside themselves to the occasional flirt
When what lies between is longing and hurt.
Two broken hearts that are craving repair
Instead are lying in their own despair.
It takes the courage of two to make ends meet
And perhaps our ending could conclude quite sweet.
For now we wait and our time we bide
Lying to ones self to continue to hide.
In times these feelings will wither and fade
And the shared glances we now evade.
But maybe we should take a chance to care
And leave it to fate to see how we fare.
