Tell Me Do You Know This Man?

Well, he looked like he was sleeping
Wet and wrinkled , old and grey
He was once some body's poppa
But he just got in their way

For he lost some of his memory
And his steps were kinda slow
Sometimes he didn't do well
At those things he ought to know

He was shuffled between children
First his daughter then his son
They had each agreed to take him
So he visited each one

When they couldn't take his slowness
They just put him on a bus
For the next part of his journey
And he left without a fuss

Well one journey was a long one
From the cold New England Shore
To his son's home down in Nashville
Takes 12 hours maybe more

There, inside his heart was breaking
His poor body's tired and sore
To his simple way of thinking
'They don't want me anymore'

So he felt both old and useless
In each temporary home
For if he could have his druthers
He'd be living in his own

Came a day, one final bus stop
Children left him all alone
For they had important meetings
And they had to hurry home

Mind confused , slightly bewildered
He just up and walked away
Then his heavenly father found him
Took him back to heaven that day

Found his body that next morning
It was lying in the rain
But when asked nobody knew him
Poor old fella with no name

Could it happen, need I tell you?
I am sure you know it's true
For this life is temporary....
Heaven awaits.... beyond the blue

There he'll never be unwanted
Never be without a name
For he'll be another angel
And God loves them all the same
