Immortalized

Immortalized

I contemplate the years gone by,
The moments captured, the memories
Painted with words, the realities
Of sadness and sorrow immortalized.

In so doing I also remember when
Words and I decided to travel together
Never promising a journey of forever
But soon I could not exist without them.

I have honored them as best I can, never asking
More of them than they could give,
Content only that they still live
Within my heart and wrapped around my soul.

If praise is given them we am thankful
But if it is not, there is no disappointment
For we understand that the anointment
Comes from readers words might have touched..

I appreciate them all, these friends, that by
Their very existence have immortalized
My thoughts, my dreams, my 'self' when
I was most vulnerable. When I needed them
They would appear without my asking,
Entering my emotionally battered soul
And for that I am so very thankful
For myself and those we may have touched.
