Swirling, Swirling

Remember that kaleidoscope
of all those years ago?
Amazing, fascinating,
you could never really know
how the patterns changed and swirled
with a slight turn of the wrist,
to childish hearts 'most magical,
young imagination kissed.

Children become adults,
imagination now full-blown;
seeds sowed then in childhood
germinated, sprouted, grown.

Now, observe autumn's kaleidoscope,
how it's flooded out the town;
swamping paddocks, parks and gardens
with gorgeous shades of gold and brown.
Every shade you can imagine,
swirling, twisting autumn tone,
God, the Creator's kaleidoscope,
which He gave me for my own.
